Hi I'm E.
At first, I didn't want to join
4-H. All it meant to me was fundraising and raising animals for the fair, only
to sell them to a stranger to be eaten! It seemed cruel, but that is not what
4-H is.
Then I found out about the other
projects such as cooking, sewing, floral arranging, porcelain doll making, etc.
I also learned that you don't have to sell your animals at the end of the year.
After that I joined Bonita 4-H and
became recording secretary at the end of the year.
One of my favorite projects is
cooking. We cook meals with some help from our project leader. Then we eat what
we've made. I have been in this project for two years. Some of the things we
have made are chicken pasta primavera, tacos, and lasagna.
All in all, 4-H is much more than a
lot of kids running around in whites at the fair.
Thank you E. for clearing up that point for us. I also had those same Ideas about the animals in 4-H. I did know about the other activities, but I thought it was mostly about the farming and animals. good to know the true adventures of the group. Enjoy your time there.

Thank you, E, for the insight! I was under the same impression of 4-H. (in regards to the animals and fairs) I had no idea there were other activities involved in the program.
ReplyDeleteI'm proud to see that you hold an officer's position in your group! Great work :)
Love, Kristi
